What are the best places to launch your kayak ?
Bringing your own kayak to paddle out to Turnip Rock or want to experience Twin Sisters, Flat Rock and the Broken Rocks Trail?

Bird Creek Park
Bird Creek County Park is the best place to launch for the Turnip Rock Tail. It has lots of parking, bathrooms, showers, playground equipment, fishing spots, splash pad, and a nice sandy beach.
Waterfront Park
If you’re looking for the Broken Rocks Trail, Waterfront Park is the place to launch. Just West of the Harbor, Waterfront park offers a nice sandy beach, parking, bathrooms, a pavilion and a outdoor fitness park.
Port Austin State Harbor
Another good place to launch is the State Harbor in Port Austin. You will need a State Park pass.

A: Absolutely yes. We ask that you use a public launch (listed above). Also be sure to check the weather before you go. You can see if we are renting today HERE or stop by the shop to check with us on conditions.

A: There are several public launch options in the area (see above for info).

A: You can, but we wouldn’t recommend it. We do not allow any tandem kayak rentals on the Turnip Rock Trail…it’s a long journey and tandem kayaks are heavier, slower, and if the waves are big can fill up with water quickly. If you want to take a tandem kayak, we recommend the Broken Rocks trail.

A: No, but the you launch from just across the river and can meet up with your squad in the first 5 minutes.
